Stretch apart the rubber band with two fingers. You will now notice there are two sides to the rubber band, right? This is the part where you use your brain, One side of the rubber band represents your flesh, the other side of the rubber band represents your spirit. If your spirit ever leaves your flesh, you've gotta a big problem... Actually your neighbors do.
Okay, when you shoot the rubber band stretching both sides equally, the two sides of the rubber band collide with each other, which wastes energy. The rubber band won't go far. That's because the spirit is fighting with the flesh.
Now, if you put more emphasis on the spirit, pull one side further, the rubber band does not waste energy because the two sides are helping each other. The Spirit is in control of the flesh.
