Understanding the Competing Worldviews:
Evolution vs. Creation
If it isn't apparent enough, evolutionists and creationists have different worldviews. Actually, very opposite worldviews. We have different ultimate standards by which we interpret all of our evidence. As soon as we understand the different worldviews, we will understand why people draw radically different conclusions. To an evolutionist, it makes complete sense that a particular fossil is millions of years old; to a creationist it makes complete sense that that same fossil dates back to Noah's Flood (or Genesis Flood, whichever you prefer).
Of course, evolutionists and creationists will draw different conclusions when investigating DNA, comets, the speed of light, etc. The evidence does not "speak for itself." The evidence requires interpretation. And we all interpret evidence in the light of our own worldview.
By now we (should) completely understand that we all interpret evidence in light of our worldview.
How can we resolve the debate?
